Getting back to my roots...

Sometimes just means grabbing the camera, walking outside, and shooting some pictures...

...or driving 30 minutes to find a good location.  But man.  That was WELL worth it.

My buddy and fellow photographer, Ben, and I headed up to the hills for a little shoot session and man did we get some great images.  If there's any single person who probably made me want to get into photography, this would be him.  I've been blessed to know a lot of people in the photography realm over the past 6 or 12 months, but this guy really showed me what you can do with off camera light, and that sparked my interest. Why?  Because I typically like to start out doing the hardest thing possible.  And in photography, there really isn't anything much more difficult than creating your own light.

So, besides the 100+ degree heat, it was a good afternoon.  Here's just a few that I really liked.

I cannot WAIT to do a portrait shoot here!!!!  Hopefully an engagement!

My good buddy, Ben.

Everytime I look at these photos...

...I enjoy them even more.  It's just such a joy to meet and shoot such amazingly nice, friendly, and welcoming family.

Again, a thank you to Cassie Koch, a fellow photographer friend of mine, for helping with this shoot.

Adorable little Madison...

Am I getting lucky with happy people?  I know that there are people out there who get sad or angry, but so far these folks have just simply not been my clients.  And babies... well, they can be cranky sometimes, right?  Not apparently while I have a camera in my hand!

I got the chance to shoot with Dayna and Madison yesterday.  Madison is nine months old and, simply put, full of joy.  Like... TRUE joy.  She smiled and grinned and laughed almost non-stop.  The last time I did that for more than 15 minutes my jaw hurt, but Madison just kept on being her happy, bubbly little self.

Here's a preliminary photo from the shoot yesterday.  More to come!

And a side thanks to a fellow photographer Cassie for helping me out!

Decided to add another photo today.  More to come VERY soon!

ALLorNOTHING

Had a chance to shoot an amazing band over the weekend.  In fact, so amazing that I stayed up SUPER late and edited pictures until what felt like the morning (technically it was past midnight, so it was morning).  I'm tired now, but it was totally worth it.  Great people to shoot.  Laz, Derek, Alfie and Eli are all cool guys and all have good heads on their shoulders, and they're all awesome musicians.

My buddy Jesse, a fellow professional photographer, was also there and shot with me.  It's always great to have a second pair of eyes in every situation.

Here's a few that I think came out really well.  And thanks to ALLorNOTHING for staying out late for the photos, even though they came from over an hour away!
